Video of 2013 Sun Miracle in the Philippines

(El Salvador City, Philippines – April 7, 2013)

Jesus put on a little show with the sun out of love for the ten thousand people who came to pray to him at his special Divine Mercy Jesus statue.  Can you guess which day he chose for the solar miracle? Divine Mercy Sunday 2013! And again on Divine Mercy Sunday 2014! And again on Divine Mercy Sunday 2015! This feast day always falls on the Sunday after Easter. The first images you will see feature a rainbow that emanated from Jesus' head during the 2012 Divine Mercy Sunday.

The show took place right on the grounds of the Divine Mercy statue (on Divine Mercy Hills). About 10,000 people saw the show in 2013. Watch the Video Here (but keep in mind, the eye-witnesses say that cameras were unable to pick up the splendor of what they saw in person - they said the spinning and incredible colors emanating from the sun did not show up on film). On Divine Mercy Sundays of 2014 and 2015, Jesus again gave the gift of a sun show. The 2014 miracle can be viewed on here (April 27, 2014).   The 2015 video footage can be viewed here, but those in attendance say they witnessed something much more incredible that what the camera was able to catch.

In the presence of three thousand people, the Blessed Mother walked and glided around the domes of a Coptic Christian church in Giza – the third-largest city in Egypt – on December 11, 2009.

Lasting about three hours, the mass apparition occurred at the Virgin Mary and Archangel Michael church on a small island in the Nile River south of Cairo (the island is located in the Warraq Al-Hadar section of the city).

The Bishop of Giza (of the Coptic Orthodox Church) announced that the apparition was authentic. Pope Shenouda III – the Coptic pope – also endorsed Mary’s appearances, saying that Mary loves Egypt.

Rays coming from image of Jesus cured him

Father Michael Gaitley fondly recalls the time that his father, who had cancer, was sitting in front of an image of the Divine Mercy of Jesus. After Mass, he told his son, "Don't tell your mother this but you see that picture over there? You see those rays? They're doing something to me."

The priest's father later was told by his doctor that his cancer was gone. His father confided in his son: “When I was sitting in front of the rays, they were warming the area where the cancer was … I knew I was healed."

The painting of the Divine Mercy Image is based on Jesus’ likeness when he appeared to Saint Faustina. Shooting out of his chest were red and white rays of light. Jesus interiorly told St. Faustina (1905-1938), “The two rays denote Blood and Water. The pale ray stands for the water that makes souls righteous. The red ray stands for the Blood which is the life of souls ...” (Diary 299).

Miracle of the Sun (Vatican Gardens)

Walking in the Vatican Gardens in 1950, Pope Pius X saw a reenactment of the Miracle of the Sun (the original took place in Fatima, Portugal, in 1917). Pope Pius X – who witnessed the phenomena on four different days in October and November – wrote: “I have seen the miracle of the sun, this is the pure truth.”

In a preserved note, the pope described the sun as an “opaque sphere” that “moved outward slightly, either spinning, or moving from left to right and vice versa. But within the sphere, you could see marked movements with total clarity and without interruption."

The papal note was part of the “Pius XII: The Man and the Pontificate” display at the Vatican in 2008. At the time of the solar miracle, the pope was preparing to definitively define the dogma of the Immaculate Conception of Mary for the Church and understood the sun miracle to serve as one more confirmation that God was pleased with the definition that he had formulated.               Links: Pius XII Saw Miracle of the Sun

LEG GREW BACK: This very-well documented case is known as the Miracle of Calanda. In 1640 the leg of a farmer in Spain reappeared suddenly while he was sleeping one night. Amputation had been performed two and half years earlier. While working on his uncle’s farm, a 20-year-old man named Miguel Juan Pellicer fell off a mule in 1637. His leg was then run over by a cart and was amputated by doctors after it became extremely gangrenous. Surgeons made the cut “four fingers below the knee.”

Two years later, on the evening of March 29, 1640, between 10:30 and 11 p.m. Miguel's mother entered the bedroom and saw two feet sticking out and assumed it must have been their house guest. When she and her husband realized it was their son, they shouted at him until he woke up.

Miguel Juan Pellicer had been dreaming of being at the Church of the
Lady of the Pillar (the Virgin Mary appeared there in 40 A.D. while she was still living) in Zaragoza, Spain. In the dream, Miguel was rubbing his leg with oil. News of the miracle spread through Calanda and was immediately investigated by surgeons and local authorities. The archbishop of Zaragoza declared the miracle to be authentic on April 27, 1641.

Documentation for Leg Miracle: The book
Il Miracolo by journalist Vittorio Messori contains the highly documented evidence of the case. Some of the evidence from his book appears on this Wikipedia article on the Miracle of Calanda.

Vittorio Messori  lists these historic documents validating the miracle:

·         The certificate set up by the notary Andréu. The original document, which fortunately escaped destruction in the Spanish civil war, is on display in a glass case in the town hall of Zaragoza.

·         The minutes of the proceedings at Zaragoza. The original document, having been kept in the archives of Zaragoza chapter house, was handed over to a Benedictine monk, Father Lambert, in about 1930, who then took it to France. Unfortunately Lambert was killed in World War II and it is unknown what has become of the manuscript since. However, before it disappeared four printed editions had been published, the first of which in 1829. Two notaries certified that these corresponded exactly with original text.

·         Two certified copies of the minutes of the proceedings, set up at the same day as the original. They were signed and sealed by the same notaries. One was kept in the archives of the town of Zaragoza, but burnt in 1808 during the Napoleonic wars. The other is still extant and is kept in the archives of the Cathedral of the Pillar.

·         The report of Calanda’s local judge, set up on the morning immediately after the event. Although the report has not survived, evidence that it existed is available at the Casa-Museo Miguel Pellicer in Calanda.

Messori also provides lesser documents with proof of the miracle:

·         The certificate of baptism of Miguel Juan Pellicer.

·         The registration of his admittance to the hospital of Valencia.

·         A small booklet written by a Carmelite monk, commissioned by the chapter house of the Pillar, and published in 1641.

·         Another book, published by a German doctor in 1642. The Jesuit father who gave the imprimatur added a declaration in which he affirmed that he personally knew Pellicer, first with one leg and then with two.

·         The account of the audience of Miguel Juan Pellicer at the royal court of Madrid.

·         A number of other documents which confirm the existence of other persons involved in the event.

Messori also states: “By far the majority of past events (including the more important ones) is attested with less documentary proof and official warrantee. This is an objective statement of fact, not apologetic reassurance. More info at this link.

More than one hundred people participated in the official Church investigation of this miracle. The newspaper l’Aviso Histórico also published a credible account of the miracle on June 4, 1640.

SUPERNATURAL STRENGTH AFTER SUBMARINE SINKS: On Aug. 26, 1988, the Pacocha submarine collided with a Japanese fishing boat, then sank in the waters near Peru. With the pressure from the water flooding in, engineer Lt. Roger Cotrina realized that by the laws of physics, it would be impossible to close the hatch and save the men.

The DVD documentary entitled “The Miracle of the Pacocha” – which includes first-hand testimony by Cotrina himself and the other men – gives this account of the events: As men in other parts of the submarine were crying and saying their last prayers before imminent death, Cotrina was washed down a ladder that led up the hatch. He took a hard fall onto the floor as a column of water landed on him.

With water churning, he was barely able to breathe and could not see anything in the darkness. He then entered “a profound state of peace” during which “his life passed before his eyes.” He saw scenes of his childhood, adolescence and time in military school (

He saw a vision of the deceased Sister Marija Petkovic who was wearing a veil and holding her cross in front of her chest. At the time of the incident, the Vatican was investigating her life for possible sainthood. Thinking he was dying, Cotrina asked Mother Marija to take him to be with God.

With his eyes still closed, Cotrina then saw an explosion of brilliant light similar to fireworks that filled him with power and strength. He opened his eyes and a light illuminated a section in a wall and revealed where he needed to go. He began climbing the ladder against the tremendous force of rushing water. A supernatural force helped him close the hatch, thus fighting four tons of weight – a feat that would have required more than seven times the strength of a strong human.

“I felt so strong,” Cotrina says on the documentary, which was produced by Christopher Massarotti. Cotrina recognized the nun in his vision because he had recently read the nun’s biography and had a picture of her. Sister Marija Petkovic (1892-1966) was beatified in 2003 by Pope John Paul II after the Vatican ruled the submarine incident a miracle. Cotrina knows now that when he saw the holy nun holding her cross, she was praying to Christ to save him.

Cotrina’s feat of opening the submarine hatch was ruled “humanly impossible” by a Peruvian military commission as well as by a Vatican commission, according to Zenit News Agency. Cotrina has said, “I saw a light and I experienced an ineffable power that allowed me to shut the hatch.” As a result of the closing of the hatch, 22 crewmen were saved.

Virgin Mary Appeared in China (1900 and 1995): Catholics in China begged the Blessed Mother to protect them from thousands of attacking soldiers who wished to murder the Christians during the Boxer Rebellion.

“A glowing apparition of Mary wearing a white robe appeared in the sky over the village as the soldiers attacked, and the soldiers fired at the apparition after they saw it. Despite the soldiers' efforts to shoot down Mary's apparition, she continued to shine brightly in the sky. As the soldiers kept firing, another apparition manifested itself: A majestic angel -- whom witnesses believed to be the Archangel Michael -- rode a horse surrounded by blazing flames of fire down from the sky and into the midst of the soldiers on the ground. By himself, Michael drove out all of the thousands of soldiers from the village.” (Source: Mary’s Appearance with Archangel Michael in Dong-Lu China)

Another miracle was reported there in 1995 at a modern shrine at the same site. Thousands “noticed what they reported was a miraculous phenomenon lasting about 20 minutes: The sun moved from right to left in the sky and shone down light rays of various different colors, and then apparitions of Mary holding a child (representing her son, Jesus Christ) appeared in the sky” (Source: Mary’s Appearance with Archangel Michael in Dong-Lu China).

The folks at give this report of the 1995 miracle in China: “Over 30,000 Catholics from the unofficial Church had gathered for Mass at the Donglu shrine on the vigil of the Feast of Our Lady, Mary Help of Christians. There were four bishops of the unofficial Church concelebrating the Mass and nearly 100 unofficial priests standing in the open field. Suddenly, during the opening prayer and again during the consecration, the people observed the sun spinning from right to left. Light rays of various shades emanated from the sky. Participants saw Our Lady of China and the Child Jesus in the sky and also the Holy Family, the Heavenly Father, and the Holy Spirit. The phenomenon lasted approximately twenty minutes.”

The 1995 miracle in the sky upset the Chinese government which then began trying to prevent Christian visitors from going there. The Chinese military then destroyed the shrine. The news article at this link (Donglu2013)

The Vatican has never made an official judgment regarding the authenticity of the apparitions in 1900 in Dong Lu, China. However, implicit approval came when Pope Pius XII in 1941 designated a feast day honoring Our Lady of China. Previously, in 1928, the pope had blessed a painting of Our Lady, Queen of China, and in 1932, he approved a shrine to Mary at Dong Lu.

To clarify, the "unofficial" Catholic Church in China is the genuine one . . .  the one in union with the pope, whereas the "official" state-run Church is controlled by the Communist government of China, which appoints its own bishops. Keep praying that China will give full religious freedom to the Catholic Church in that country! And to all Christian churches there.

A MOUNTAIN WAS MOVED (12th century) – the Miracle of Mokattam Mountain:  In his famed travelogue, Marco Polo reports that when he was passing Central Asia, between Baldach and Mosul in 1225 A.D., he was told that 50 years earlier in that location, a mountain had been moved by the prayer of Christians. According to the account, a caliph who hated Christians pointed out a quote of Jesus saying that “if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, `Move from here to there,' and it will move . . . “ (Matthew 17:20).

The caliph pointed to the mountain and told the Christians, “You must remove that mountain, or I will put you all to death, because otherwise you must be wholly destitute of faith, and on that account deserve to die. If, however, you will turn to our good law of Mohammed, you shall be forgiven; and, in the meantime, I allow you ten days to do what is required.”

Trembling in fear, all the Christians assembled, including men, women, priests, the bishop and archbishop, and prayed for eight days and eight nights. During the intense prayer, an angel appeared to a bishop known for his holiness, and said that the mountain could be moved if he sought out the prayers of a certain shoemaker with one eye. The shoemaker was an honest, pure man, who gave to the poor, fasted, and went to Mass regularly. The shoemaker prayed. On the last day, all the Christians woke early and attended Mass, then “proceeded out to the plain in front of the mountain. They were fully a hundred thousand, and they all placed themselves in front of the cross. The caliph then came with a vast number of Saracens, eager to slay the un-believers . . .

“The mountain moved from its place. Many Saracens converted. The caliph secretly converted and was found to be wearing a cross around his neck upon his death.

The story that Marco Polo heard is thought to be a real occurrence in the Coptic Orthodox Christian Church in the 900s in which the caliph challenged the Coptic pope, Abraam, to move the Mokattam Mountain near Cairo, Egypt.

Marco Polo got most of the story right – except for a few variations such as the dates (also, it was the Blessed Mother rather than an angel who appeared to the bishop, and it was ten days rather than three days that were given to the move the mountain. The name of the saintly shoemaker and tanner who was one-eyed – is Samaan.

Eight Jesuit Priests Survived Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima on August 6, 1945. This bomb killed 80,000 people instantly. Its after-effects killed tens of thousands later. But eight priests survived despite being only eight blocks from the epicenter. Puzzled scientists have examined the miraculous survivors hundreds of times. They searched (unsuccessfully) for reasons explaining how they not only survived the blast, but also escaped radiation effects. Radiation was not found in the bodies of the surviving priests.

One survivor was Fr. Hubert Schiffer, a German Jesuit – said “that we survived because we were living the message of Fatima. We lived and prayed the rosary daily in that home.”   The Eight Jesuit Priests  The story is included in author John Hersey’s acclaimed book, Hiroshima (New York: Knopf, 1985). When the United States dropped atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, at least 129,000 people were killed.

Cured by Pope John Paul II:   Sister Marie Simon Pierre – a French nun who worked in a maternity hospital in Paris – was overwhelmed with pain from Parkinson’s Disease. About a month after the death of Pope John Paul II (who died April 2, 2005) nuns started praying to the late pope to cure Sister Marie Simon. They began praying on May 13, 2005. Starting the next day, on May 14, a Bible verse mysteriously followed Sister Marie continually, giving her hope to carry on: "If you believe, you will see the glory of God” (John 11:40). Jesus spoke these words to Martha just before raising Lazarus from the dead.

On June 2, the nun’s health worsened, she could not stand, and she asked her Mother Superior to be relieved of her duties. Mother Superior trusted in Pope John Paul II. The superior held out a pen and told Sister Marie to write down the pope’s name on a piece of paper. She did so with a great struggle.

That evening, the nuns sensed receiving an interior message instructing her to write the name again. The message was, “Take your pen and write!” She again wrote Pope John Paul's name. This time, the handwriting was completely legible, which amazed the nun because the first time she wrote the name, it was unreadable.

The next morning she knew she was completely cured. “I awoke at 4:30, amazed at having been able to sleep . . . My body was no longer painful, there was no rigidity and inside, I was no longer the same. Then, an inner call and a strong desire to go and pray before the Blessed Sacrament . . . I felt a profound sense of peace and well-being; an experience that was too great, a mystery, difficult to explain with words,” Sister Marie Simon wrote.

A little later, she walked to a different chapel. “I became aware that, as I was walking, my left arm was swinging by my side. It was no longer immobile. I also felt a lightness and a physical agility that I had not experienced for quite some time,” wrote Sister Marie Simon in her testimony published by Zenit News Agency.

On June 3, she went to her neurologist who was shocked at the immediately recovery. After a thorough investigation of medical records, the Vatican approved the healing as an authentic miracle attributed to Pope John Paul II.

Miracle of the Sun in New Jersey?!  New Jersey has a shrine dedicated to Our Lady of Fatima, commemorating Mary’s apparitions and solar miracle in Fatima, Portugal in 1917. The shrine is located on the grounds of the World Apostolate of Fatima, USA, in Washington Township, N.J..  Many pilgrims to the site – especially on certain feast days – have claimed to see the sun spinning, pulsating and changing colors.

On at least one occasion, people reported seeing a scene of Jesus in the sky. For example, this article recounts that on the 90th anniversary of Fatima (Sept. 8, 2007) in New Jersey, people saw the scene of Jesus while others saw the sun change colors and dance in the sky. Meanwhile, this article reports a sun miracle occurring on October 18, 2009. On this day, Maureen Therese Pinho of Netcong, N.J., is quoted as saying, “My children and friend and I all saw the same thing with the sun spinning, changing colors and pulsating as soon as the Haily Holy Queen was finished being recited.” (source: Catholic PRWire).

This article reports that on the 91st anniversary of Fatima (October 13, 2008) numerous visitors also witness sun miracles. Margie Penkala of Hopatcong, NJ, said that on 10/13/2008 she was “watching the sun dance and change colors.” (Source) Tina Zucchetto said that her group of 30 all observed “the sun dancing and changing colors” and that the colors changed from “pink to yellow and blue to green.”

On May 13, 2015, scheduled guests at this Jersey shrine included Fr. Andrew Apostoli (of EWTN fame) and Bishop Paul Bootkoski.    Shrine – World Apostolate of Fatima, USA    Video about Blue Army Shrine  World Apostolate of Fatima - wiki   Video of sun spinning on October 13, 2010 (the video camera was not able to capture the miracle that was seen by the naked eye from the ground, but click on “more” to read the full text of Ingko mingorino’s written description of what he saw on Oct. 13, 2010. He writes of a “sun that spun and darted about. A sun that expanded and collapsed. A sun that changed colors from yellow to red to pink to blue to orange.” But he was most touched by an image in the center of the sun after the main show was over, specifically “an image of Mama Mary’s face and her wearing her veil on top of her head . . . that image will forever be with me …”

Video of sun II     This second video from 2010 also does not capture the true miracle seen by witnesses but click “more” to read the person’s written description. He mentions a “pulsating sun” and “the sun spinning extremely fast” and a “warmth” that freed him from any worries of the moment.

Personal Sun Miracle for Jersey Man – Loci B. Lenar of Morris County, N.J., says he was lukewarm in his faith before witnessing a remarkable sun miracle in northern Jersey on September 8, 1991. He writes, “While the sun was expanding in magnitude, it slowly descended and encompassed the earth with its sheer vastness and colors.” The vision was accompanied by an “indescribable blissful peace of heaven” and a vision of the world blessed with peace. He was also given a message. Read his story here or here.

Loci Lenar later witnessed solar phenomena at a second site –  at the Fatima shrine in Jersey on Oct 18, 2009. Loci Lenar also points out the Bible’s reference to miracles in the last days: Acts 2:17-18: "God says, 'It will come to pass in the last days that I will pour out a portion of my spirit upon all people.  Your sons and your daughters shall prophesy, young men shall see visions, your old men shall dream dreams.  Indeed, upon my servants and my handmaids, I will pour out a portion of my spirit in those days, and they shall prophesy.’    Loci Lenar adds, “The Lord is not conveying the end of our world, but rather the end of old ways, and the beginning of change with a new era.  Through discernment, the Lord is preparing our Millennium for a great era of peace and prosperity with an outpouring of the Holy Spirit for salvation and healing.”  Loci Lenar sun miracle  Loci Lenar photography  Loci Lenar facebook

Miracle for sledding victim accident in coma. Father John Hardon will never forget the year 1948. A boy had been in a coma for ten days and was diagnosed with permanent brain damage after a sledding accident. The young priest – ordained the previous year – got the boy a Miraculous Medal to wear and blessed the medal. As soon as the priest started reciting the prayers to enroll him in the medal association, the boy woke up and told his mother he wanted ice cream. The experience changed the priest’s life.   Miraculous Medal

Teenager’s heart Stops for 45 minutes in 2015 USA Today tells the story of a 14-year-old boy who fell through ice in Missouri. John Smith’s heart had been stopped for 45 minutes when his mother walked in the hospital room and prayed loudly, saying “Holy God, please send your Holy Spirit to save my son.”  His heart started again. He made a complete recovery. Dr. Kent Sutterer refutes the idea that it can by scientifically explained. Dr. Sutterer, who had performed CPR for 25 minutes, said: “Everyone says he was helped by the ice. He was DEAD for 45 minutes!”   Dr. Garrett adds, “It’s a bonafide miracle.” (NBC)   Mom prays, dead son comes back to life

Cured through Cardinal John Henry Newman: – In 2009, the Vatican approved the miraculous cure of Deacon Jack Sullivan – who was instantly cured on June 6, 2000 of a debilitating spinal condition that should have paralyzed him. But, more interesting than the medical records, in my opinion, is the fact that the man felt the cure happening. Read the following quotes:

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported, "Suddenly I felt tremendous heat and a strong tingling feeling all over that lasted for some time. I also felt an intense sense of joy and peace," Deacon Sullivan said. He shouted to a nurse, "I have no more pain!" He stood erect and began striding through the hospital halls, he said.

The Boston Globe reported, “He felt a tingling all over, was flooded with warmth, and, as easy as that, he could walk.”

Catholic News Agency reported: “I felt tremendous heat and a tingling feeling all over that lasted for five or 10 minutes,” Sullivan said. “After I experienced this, I immediately stood up straight. I was able to walk, not with a walker or cane, but on my own, without any difficulty or pain. I walked all over the hospital, just joyful. I never needed any pain medication after that.”

The Catholic Herald reported, “At Jordan Hospital in Plymouth a CAT scan showed five vertebrae squeezing his spinal cord and creating a bulge, which meant that he could lose his lower body function at any time and be paralyzed. He could only walk doubled over. Referred to a specialist at Brigham and Women’s Hospital he was told it was the worst back problem the doctor had seen in 17 years.

Deacon Sullivan had recently seen a TV show about John Cardinal Henry Newman, the famous Englishman who was being considered for sainthood, and decided to pray to him, saying: “Please, Cardinal Newman , help me to walk so I can go back to classes and be ordained.” He notes that he did not ask to be healed, but only to be able to complete his classes for ordination to the diaconate.

Mother of Orthodox priest is cured through Padre Pio’s intercession: A woman with incurable lung cancer was given only a few months to live. She had even traveled from her native Romania to Italy for a second medical opinion. The answer was the same ... surgery could not help her. While in Rome, she decided to spend her time sitting in front of St. Padre Pio statue at a church while conversing with him. Two weeks later, she went to her doctor who found the tumor had vanished. The woman's son, an Orthodox priest and his parishioners were deeply touched. So touched, in fact, that this Orthodox church became a Catholic church. Amputated Hand Comes Back Saint John Damascene (also known as “St. John of Damascus”), who died in 726 A.D., was a Syrian Christian who lived under Muslim rule his whole life. This holy theologian was declared a Doctor of the Church by Pope Leo XIII in 1890. And now the interesting part.

According to his biography, the Sultan ordered that John's hand be cut off (severed at the wrist). The punishment was acted out, but afterwards, an image of the Virgin Mary came to life and put the hand back on him. Seeing the hand back on him, all recognized the saint’s innocence before the charges against him.

“John was said to have offered the amputated hand to an image of the Virgin without asking anything in return. The image came to life to reattach the hand and John then ordered that a silver votive be made in the form of a hand, which he attached to the image. A copy of this three-handed Virgin (Tricherusa) is preserved in the Hilander Monastery on Mount Athos in Greece,” according to the book Medicine in Art (p. 334) by Giorgio Bordin and Laura Polo.

The Abbot Orsini wrote: “In the year 723, in the night following the day when the prince of the Saracens had unjustly ordered the hand of Saint John Damascene to be cut off, Our Lady reunited it miraculously to his wrist, after this faithful servant had prayed to her for it with the design of continuing to write in defense of holy images.”     Catholic Encyclopedia article on St. John Damascene  Catholic Online article on St. John Damascene   Roman Catholic Saints    The Famous Painting of Mary with Three Hands

MODERN EUCHARISTIC MIRACLES Historic Eucharistic Miracles which can still be witnessed today include the Miracle of Lanciano in Italy (8th century); the Miracle of Bolsena-Orvieto in Italy (1263 A.D.) and the Eucharistic Miracle of Siena, Italy (1730). The science is on their side.

But have you heard about the 1996 miracle in Buenos Aires that Pope Francis knows all about? On Aug. 18, 1996, Father Alejandro Pezet picked up a consecrated Host that had been discarded. As per church guidelines, he placed it in water so that it would dissolve naturally. But it never dissolved. It had blood on it. He informed bishop Jorge Bergoglio (now Pope Francis), who instructed that professional photos be taken. Several years later, the Host had still not decomposed, so the future pope requested it be scientifically analyzed.

Dr. Ricardo Castañón, who has a Ph.D. in clinical psychology, was called to the scene. He tells the whole story on this video. He brought the specimen to U.S. laboratories, careful not to identify the substance or its source to the lab technicians. The laboratory results revealed the sample was human heart muscle, specifically from myocardium of the left ventricle.

Later, Dr. Castañón brought the sample to Dr. Frederick Zugibe, an American expert in forensic medicine and the only professor to have written a book on how to identify a person's cause of death when the heart has been wounded, Castañón explains on the video. As to be expected, the blood type of the sample was AB (same blood type from the Shroud of Turin and several previous Eucharistic miracles …typical of a man who lived in the Middle East).

After examining the sample (but without being told its origin), Dr. Zugibe said it was derived from the heart of a very wounded and tortured person. In the video, Dr. Castañón recalls Dr. Zugibe demanding to know how it was possible that this sample was alive and beating. “How did you take out the heart of a dead man and take it alive to me in my laboratory in New York?” Dr. Castañón recalls Dr. Zugibe asking.

Dr. Castañón said Dr. Zugibe was flabbergasted to learn that the sample was from a consecrated Host that had begun bleeding. Blood cells from a dead man’s heart would have died within 15 minutes, yet the sample was several years old. The Buenos Aires event is one of the miracles covered in the remarkable book, Reason to Believe by Ron Tesoriero, an Australian lawyer. “SIGNS FROM GOD” DOCUMENTARY:   Seen by 28 million Americans, this famous documentary  shows the stigmata as the wounds of Christ take form on Bolivian mystic, Katya Rivas (also called “Catalina Rivas”), as she suffers with Jesus.  Katya is tested by journalists in an attempt to detect fraud, but passes the tests. Katya’s writings were published with the approval of her bishop. Filming and producing this documentary changed the course of journalist Mike Willesee’s life.

The amazing true story of attorney Ron Tesoriero – An attorney in Australia is dumbfounded by the naiveté of a priest who walks into his office. The priests states that he needs to build a church and school on some land that he found. The land is not for sale, and its zoning prohibited the building of churches and schools.

The attorney says to the priest, “So, let me get this straight. You don’t have any money whatsoever. You want to buy some land which is not for sale.”  Father Aliprandi explains he has been praying at the site each day, he’s made a cross of stones there, and he nailed to a tree a relic of Saint Mary MacKillop.

A few days later, another stranger enters Tesoriero’s law office and says, “I need to liquidate my company as soon as possible ….”  Suddenly, the land desired by the priest was available.

These types of miracles continue to pile up in Tesoriero's life. He recounts htem in his book, Reason to Believe. His adventures include visiting South America to film stigmatist Catalina Rivas in Bolivia. While in her home in Bolivia, Rivas shares with the attorney many things that Jesus has told her . . . including information about the Shroud of Turin, a statue of Jesus in Bolivia.  Jesus even comments on and critiques the video made by Australian visitor!   Along the way, Tesoriero works with top scientists who test the authenticity of various miracles, including Eucharistic miracles. Too many miracles to count: Dr. Mary Healy went on a sabbatical trip to Brazil and Qatar. There, she witnessed many miracles: “On this trip two people with uneven legs had one leg visibly lengthen to match the other. Three people got out of wheelchairs, including an 8-year-old boy and a 25-year-old woman who had never walked in their lives. Many tumors disappeared visibly. A withered, paralyzed arm was healed. A deaf man got up to testify, holding his hearing aids in his hands and just weeping.  A young man who had walked on a crutch for 9 months after a severe accident ran up to the front with no help, weeping for joy. I lost count of how many blind eyes and deaf ears were opened. Our Portuguese translator alone has a special gift for healing of deafness and had 16 deaf or partially deaf ears opened on this trip. A 12-year-old girl got up to testify who two years ago was hit by a motorcycle; her head was visibly cracked open and the EMTs pronounced her dead at the scene, but while they tried to bring her to the morgue her mother and another woman prayed over her and after 15 minutes she came back to life.”

Double Rainbow after funeral   This young lady tells the story of the death of her dear grandfather, a Christian who helped youth get back on track. Rainbows were his favorite symbol. Some people called him “Coach Rainbow.” His granddaughter (who appears in the video) wears a rainbow necklace he gave her. Robert Williams died Nov. 19, 2011. His burial service was in Mesa. After his service was over, a rainbow appeared “in the sky over his grave . . . it eventually spread into a full arc and a double rainbow spread all the way across the sky . . . that morning I had prayed that the people in Mesa and that attended his burial would feel Grandpa’s presence in some way, like strongly, that his spirit would be present in some way . . . ”

Tim Russert’s Rainbow – Television journalist Tim Russert – who was moderator of NBC’s Meet the Press – died on June 13, 2008. At the end of his memorial service, the song “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” was played. In fact, it was broadcast from Tim Russert’s own ipad. As the mourners left and got outside, they were greeted by a full rainbow – a double rainbow – that stretched from one side of Washington, D.C. to the other.

According to MSNBC, “Even if you do not believe in omens, the memorial ended with the playing of a recording of a ukulele version of “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and within minutes as those of us who laughed and grieved left the Kennedy Center,  we were stopped in our tracks by this – a vivid double rainbow, which had spread across Washington skies while we were all in that building saying goodbye...  If there’s any way that a soul is behind that, I know that was Russert. I’d recognize him anywhere.” Video of Rainbow   Tim Russert tribute   Tim Russert tribute II

MIRACLE OF THE EYES (June 22, 1888):  On this evening, three different men saw the same miracle in Canada – the eyes of a special statue of the Virgin Mary opened for a period of five to ten minutes, then closed again. During the miracle, Mary’s face became the face of a living person.

The three witnesses were Father Frederic Janssoone O.F.M. (who was later beatified), Father Luc Desilets and Mr. Pierre Lacroix. According to the official web site of Our Lady of the Cape Shrine, which is located in Cap-de-la-Madeleine, Quebec Canada “As the three men were praying, suddenly Father Desilets got up to ask Father Frederic if he could see the same thing he was seeing.

Father Frederic answered that ‘Yes, the statue has opened its eyes, hasn’t it?’ Pierre Lacroix also had been noticing this.  Both priests got up, moving about while still looking at the statue to make sure that they were really seeing this.

Father Frederic often spoke of this event saying that the eyes of the statue were wide opened; that they stayed opened for about five to ten minutes; that her eyes were dark, well-formed and in perfect harmony with the rest of her face; that she had the expression of a living person; that her look changed his life forever, etc.  He never stopped talking about this wonderful event of the Blessed Mother. Testimony of Father Frederic Here is the testimony of Father Frederic, published on May 22, 1897 on the front page of the Montreal daily La Presse (source: Our Lady of the Cape):

“The statue of the Virgin had been sculptured with the eyes cast down. Now they were wide open, staring. The Virgin was looking straight ahead, Her eyes level. It could hardly be an optical illusion: Her face was clearly visible, illuminated by the sun which, shining through one of the windows, filled the whole shrine with light. Her eyes were black, well-shaped, and in perfect harmony with the rest of Her face. The Virgin’s expression was that of a living person, at once stern and sad. This marvel lasted somewhere between five and ten minutes.”

The Miracle of the Eyes was not the first miracle at this parish. In 1879, parishioners planned to build a third, larger church but needed to transport the heavy stones and materials across the Lawrence River. Due to the unseasonably warm winter, the river would not freeze. All prayed for an ice bridge. It was already St. Patrick’s Day yet still no ice. The pastor announced there would be a special Mass on the Feast of St. Joseph’s (March 19) to ask Jesus’ step father for an ice bridge. Sure enough, the ice bridge was ready for business by the feast day, March 19!  The bridge was only a few hundred feet from the church!  To the left and right of the bridge remained water. Stones were carted across the river on hundreds of sleighs.

Basilica of St. Anne in Quebec: Here is another miracle involving the origins of a Canadian church, namely a  famous basilica honoring St. Anne (mother of the Virgin Mary), which today draws half a million visitors per year. The miracle occurred as construction began on the Basilica of Sainte-Anne-de-Beaupré. A construction worker named Louis Guimond (1625-1661) who suffered from a painful rheumatism was instantly healed upon putting three foundation stones in place. Visitors to the church will find many crutches hanging on the pillars near the entrance – they are the former crutches of those who received miraculous cures.

Saint Anthony of Padua (and the donkey that bowed down before Jesus): As you enter the grounds of St. Anthony’s shrine in Ellicott City, Md., you will notice large statues of a saint and a donkey which illustrate an ancient story: A man who doubted the Real Presence of Jesus in the Eucharist publicly challenged Saint Anthony. The man wished to bring a starved donkey to the saint in order to see if the animal chose the Eucharist or a pile of tasty hay. St. Anthony prepared for the challenge by fasting all week. When the time came, the donkey bowed before the Eucharist.

Even more common than the image of this saint with a donkey, is that of Saint Anthony holding the Baby Jesus. This is because the saint was spotted holding the Baby Jesus in 1231 by Count Tiso, who was drawn to the saint’s cell by a brilliant light. Begged by the saint not to reveal what he saw until after the saint’s death, the count kept his promise. Laying on his deathbed later that year, St. Anthony seemed to smiling and gazing at something. When asked who he saw, the saint replied, “I see my Lord.”      Donkey Story   Saint Anthony of Padua

Mysterious hitchhiker cured sick man  Anthony Fuina of Long Island – who had cancer – had an odd and miraculous feeling he was supposed to pick up a certain bearded hitchhiker standing on Hicksville Road even though it would make him late. The hitchhiker got in the car and sensed Anthony was worried about a sickness. The passenger asked if he could place his hands over Anthony’s colon tumor. The hitchhiker then began praying in another language.

At this moment, Anthony says, “The sensation that took over my body was so incredibly intense and miraculous, that I felt the hairs stand from my flesh, as the chills ran down my spine. I called out, “O’ My God, O’ My God I cannot believe this, I can’t wait until I tell my wife. I cannot believe this.” When Anthony asked the guy, “Who are you?” the man's response was only “a Servant of God.”   The hitchhiker told Anthony he was healed.

The man turned out to be the deceased Saint Padre Pio. Anthony knows this because three years later, after he developed cancer in the esophagus, his daughter gave him a picture of the same man. Anthony writes, “I took one look at this picture and the electricity, euphoria and warmth began piercing my body.”

During Anthony’s treatment for the more recent cancer, Anthony went to a holy man known to have the gift of healing who himself had been healed by Padre Pio. During the encounter, Anthony says he felt the strong presence of Padre Pio and  “experienced the empowering feeling all over again, sending the chills running down my spine once again.” Later, the doctors pronounced him cancer-free.  Anthony Fuina’s miracle   Long Islander believes Padre Pio Interceded for him

                TILMA OF GUADALUPE (1531)

This cloak (or large piece of cloth) bears a miraculous image of the Virgin Mary. On Dec. 12, 1531, the Virgin Mary appeared to St. Juan Diego in Guadalupe (outside Mexico City) and left him the miraculous cloth as a sign for the bishop. Scientists continue to find new miraculous characteristics of the tilma. For example, recently, it was discovered that its internal temperature remains steady at 98.6 degrees Fahrenheit.

The earliest written account of the story of the Virgin of Guadalupe is contained in the Nican Mopohua in 1556.

SUN  DANCED AND PLUNGED TOWARD EARTH: The Miracle of the Sun took place on October 13, 1917 in Fatima, Portugal and was witnessed by 70,000 people. Why had that many people shown up that day? Because it was the exact day on which the Virgin Mary had said she would provide a great sign for all to see. She had been appearing to three shepherd children –Lucia, Jacinta and Francisco – on the 13th of each month.

Sun Halo in Fatima in 2011

The dancing of the sun in Fatima, Portugal, occurred in 1917. But, more recently – on May 13, 2011 – Fatima was the site of another solar event. The sun halo that formed around the sun did not occur at a random time at a random place but rather right in Fatima, right where the sun miracle of 1917 occurred, right when thousands of praying pilgrims had showed up to celebrating the anniversary of Mary’s first apparition in Fatima, right above the Fatima shrine where Mary had appeared in 1917.

But there’s more. The sun halo of 2011 appeared  precisely in the moments in which the first images of a film on the late Pope John Paul II (1920-2005) appeared on an outdoor jumbo television screen at 1:30 p.m. In the film, the beloved late pope spoke about the Fatima events of 1917. Pope John Paul had been beatified twelve days earlier, and would be canonized a saint on April 27, 2014.

When the sun halo formed, many of the faithful on site cried out, “Milagre!” (Portuguese for “miracle”).

A “sun halo” is a circular rainbow that can form around the sun. Like a rainbow, a “sun halo” is a scientifically explainable optical phenomenon. Sun halos form when sunlight shines through ice crystals at high altitudes in the sky. The people in heaven enjoy orchestrating such events at meaningful times on Earth to send down signs of God’s loving presence.

A Perfectly Timed Sun Halo in El Salvador (2015)!

On June 1, 2015, a beatification Mass was held for the beloved late priest, Oscar Romero, in the city of San Salvador. In 1980, Fr. Romero was shot and killed while he was saying Mass. At a significant moment during the 2015 Mass, a sun halo appeared in the sky as if God were affirming the holiness of the martyred priest.

Father Manuel Dorantes, who took this photo of the sun halo, told the Catholic News Agency that “as the relics came out, as we were singing the Gloria, all of a sudden, the heavens above us opened up, and the sun came out. A perfect circular halo formed above the sun.”

Father Dorantes added that the heavens seemed to be saying “yes, he is a saint, he is with us” and that many priests cried when the sun halo appeared in the sky.

Cardinal Angelo Amato celebrated the outdoor Mass, which was attended by more than 200,000 people. Now that Romero is beatified, he has received the title “Blessed,” and is a step closer to possible sainthood.

A Vision of the Future Helped Him Survive

Aron Ralston became famous after his six days in 2003 stranded in a remote canyon in Utah where nobody could hear him screaming for help. His arm was pinned under a boulder. Eventually, he was able to cut himself loose, but had to leave his hand behind.

After the ordeal, I caught his interview on a late night show where he mentioned a vision he had about a future son while trapped under the boulder. The vision gave him hope he would survive.   I wondered if the vision would come true and researched it a few years later. It did!  His firstborn was Leo Ralston, born in 2010!

On Day Three of his ordeal in the Utah canyon, he prays, “God, I am praying to you for guidance. I'm trapped here in Blue John Canyon you probably know that and I don't know what I am supposed to do. Please show me a sign."

At 11 p.m. on Day Five – a day on which he assumes he will not survive the night – he sees a vision of a blond-haired boy running across a sunlit floor. Ralston knows it is his future son. In the vision, Ralston has only one hand. Ralston describes the vision like this:

I lean back in my harness and slip into another trance. Color bursts in my mind, and then I walk through the canyon wall, stepping into a living room. A blond-haired three-year-old boy in a red polo shirt comes running across a sunlit hardwood floor in what I somehow know is my future home. By the same intuition, I know the boy is my own. I bend to scoop him into my left arm, using my handless right arm to balance him, and we laugh together as I swing him up to my shoulder. The boy happily perches on my left shoulder while I steady him with my left hand and right stump. Smiling, I prance about the room, tiptoeing in and out of the sun dapples on the oak floor, and he giggles gleefully. Then, with a shock, the vision blinks out. I'm back in the canyon, echoes of his joyful sounds resonating in my mind. Despite having already come to accept that I will die where I stand before help arrives, now I believe I will live. That belief, that boy, changes everything for me.”

After Ralston picked up the little boy during the vision, the boy said, “Daddy, I am glad you are home, let’s play” (Tragedy and triumph: Author Aron Ralston cut off his arm to save his life,” Mammoth Times).

The vision of himself without a hand gave Ralston a helpful clue as to what he needed to do to survive. On Day 6, Ralston was able to cut off his hand and set himself free. Born in 1975, Ralston is the author of Between a Rock and a Hard Place (2004). His story was turned into the movie 127 Hours  (starring James Franco).

Ralston may not be Catholic, but he learned at least one Christian truth – that the purpose of our existence is love and that all humans in the universe are connected by a force called love. Perhaps one day Ralston will learn that the love he felt was a person. It was God.

Ralston is quoted saying he had this revelation during the ordeal: “It’s not what you do in life, it’s what you are. It’s about love, about who you love, about being loved.” He also stated that during his horror, “the will to love was stronger than the will to live” (“Tragedy and triumph: Author Aron Ralston cut off his arm to save his life,” Mammoth Times
